Join us for our ceramics exhibit July 2nd through July 27th. The art students at Cosumnes River College (CRC), come from diverse backgrounds but share the same passion for ceramic sculpting and wheel throwing. These student artists, who were recently selected to represent CRC for the 2016 California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Art, have demonstrated growth, and varied techniques in the creation of their one-of-a-kind artwork. The techniques used, range from clay hand building, to wheel throwing. The art students are encouraged to experiment and develop a variety of techniques, opening doors for the use of mixed media in their ceramic artwork.
CRC’s art department and students are privileged to have the renowned artist, Professor Yoshio Taylor, as a mentor and instructor. Professor Taylor provides an abundance of knowledge on the art of ceramics and years of experience in wheel thrown pottery, and hand built sculptural forms.
The goal of CRC’s ceramic students is to embrace traditional, historic, ceramic techniques, and to then apply these techniques in the creation of their own contemporary ceramic pottery and sculptures.
