Our new exhibit features the Student Art from Monterey Trails High School, in the Elk Grove Unified School District. Annually we honor a different High School in Elk Grove’s district as a way to celebrate National Youth Art Month. It is our goal, here at the Art center to recognize, and promote, the talents of this very special, and unique group of teens.
Monterey Trail High School was established in 2004. The Visual Arts Department started in its first year with Art 1 and Ceramics 1 offered as elective courses and has grown to include beginning and advanced level courses in art, ceramics, graphic design, and photography and also offers a mixed media class as well.
Beginning level courses and curriculum focus on developing technique in a variety of media and connections are made with artists and art of the past and present. All classes apply common vocabulary such as the elements of art and principles of design as well as examining art work based on the four steps of art criticism.
The show runs April 1st through April 26th. Click HERE for our reception flyer!
