My background is primarily in studying ancient civilizations and this is often reflected in my artwork. Having a B.A. in Art History, Professional Credentials in Museum Collections and Care and several years of work in the museum field has surrounded my personal and professional life in the art world for most of my adult life. I like to leave myself open to inspiration and will dabble with other themes from time to time, but I mostly find that I look back to ancient traditions, rituals, and home life for motifs and patterns to incorporate in an art piece.
In my desire to bring these ancient civilizations into contemporary art, I choose to vary the media and surfaces that I work with, shifting from painting on canvas to ceramics or glass, henna on textiles or drums, wood burning, sumi-e, and more. This allows not only a varied expression of ancient art but also an added challenge for me as the artist.
