My artistic interest has always been with me, but I only began focusing on it when I retired from teaching with the Elk Grove Unified School District seven years ago. In the year previous to my retirement, I searched out and found my birth family, and discovered both my birth parents had been artists! I decided when I retired that I would pursue my lifelong interest in art and see where it took me!
I began taking art classes...at the Crocker Art Museum, at Cosumnes River College, and at the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center, where I met the warm, caring, and talented members of EGFAC. One of my classmates at Cosumnes was EGFAC member Darrci Robertson, who encouraged me to join EGFAC, which I did in January of this year. As I looked around at what they did, and the wonderful events and opportunities they provide for community involvement in the arts, I decided I wanted to be a part of that "giving back" to our Elk Grove community.
In my short artistic "career" I have enjoyed painting in oil and acrylics, but mainly I like to work in clay. One of my favorite themes is conveying the expressiveness of horses, so if you see a ceramic horse in the gallery, it's probably mine!
