Originally trained in Graphic Arts, the Artist began to work in transparent watercolor upon his retirement from the Los Rios Community College District in 1996. His style is influenced by the work of water media artist, Gerald Brommer. The use of a variety of handmade papers from Asia provides the textural qualities prevalent in many of his paintings. Some works also incorporate pen and ink, Gouache or colored pencil. He has presented many demonstrations and workshops on this unique process.
The artist considers himself primarily a landscapist and works from sketches, digital images and notes with occasional experiments with still life and calligraphy.
His work has been in many local large and small group exhibitions, received several awards and is in many private collections. Solo shows include the Casa Garden, Iron Door Gallery in Murphys and the Artful Gatherings Gallery in Chicago.
