One of my recent projects was to help my mother sort through her old family albums. My paintings are based on copies of some of these marvelous old photographs.
After preparing the boards, I drew the pictures in pencil and then painted outlines.
Next, I used a single tone of paint to rough in the lights and darks and adjust the compositions.
Since all of the paintings are from black and white photographs, all of the colors are from my imagination. I painted in the rough colors at the same time using the same color palette for all the pictures.
Each painting was then finished separately.
